Ipod Battery Replacement Is Not Difficult!

Although iPods are a wonderful invention, there have been complaints about the lack of playtime and about poor battery life. Earlier, it was practically impossible to replace an iPod battery. So the only option was to buy a new iPod when the battery died. This was an extremely expensive proposition. So manufacturers have started producing aftermarket iPod batteries; there are also high capacity batteries which will give you much more playtime on the iPod compared to the original iPod batteries. So now you can replace the dying battery and continue to enjoy your iPod.

You may be reluctant to rip apart that lovely, shiny iPod which you cherish so much. However, you may take heart as aftermarket iPod batteries have been so designed as to make the installation totally simple. Battery installation does not need any soldering; so you have to open up the case. There are no visible screws or tabs on the iPod, only a sleek metal plate is fixed on the back of the iPod. The casing has to be pried off carefully so that you can access the battery inside. Do not use a metal screwdriver, as this may damage the case. You can use a guitar pick, or better still, the non-scratch nylon tools that come with some batteries, to open the iPod safely.

First, lay the iPod on a piece of cloth on a smooth surface. With the help of your non scratch tools, insert it slowly under the cover and start prying off the cover. As it starts to open, slide your tool all around the edges to keep on prying if off, till the back of the iPod is separated from the front half.

Once these have been separated, put aside the empty half.

The other half of the iPod will have all the inner components; the battery will be in there, and it will be connected to the iPod's circuit board. Pull on the end of the connector and unplug the battery carefully.

Now get the new battery and plug it in the connector socket which will be on the circuit board of the iPod. The connector goes in only in one way, so you have to ensure that you are inserting it the right way up.

Once you have succeeded in connecting it up, you can put back the cover - press the edges of the two halves and put it together.

Plug in your charger and charge up the iPod for four hours at least. The first time around, the new batteries should get a longer charge than normal.

After this, all is ready for you to enjoy your music again like you used to!
