The third generation iPods show a weak bass response. Some equalizer settings like R&B, Acoustic and Rock can also lead to bass distortion due to excess amplification. Apart from this, some users also faced a unique problem that the shuffle function is not random enough and their iPod plays certain tracks more often than others. The iPods have been criticized due to their fragile hard drives, short life-span and also seemingly planned obsolescence.
